“To people who want Pant dropped from ODIs” – Twitter reacts as Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant are the only Indians to score Test and ODI hundreds in 2022

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have always been kind enough to give opportunities for youngsters to showcase their mettle and fortitude in international cricket.

Young players like Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant have been giving it all in the Test and ODI format whenever they have been given chances. Not long ago, Rishabh Pant requested the BCCI to release him from the ODI squad for the three-match ODI series against the Bangladesh national cricket team.

Rishabh Pant’s best performances have actually come in the longest format of the game. On the other hand, he has been decent in One-Day Internationals whereas he hasn’t been up to the mark in Twenty20 Internationals.

On the other side of the coin, Shubman Gill has represented the Indian cricket team in Tests and ODIs and hasn’t made his debut in the shortest format of the game, owing to stiff competition in the team.

The two Indian youngsters namely Gill and Pant have been doing decently well in the Test and the ODI format and might as well get much better over time.

Currently, these two are on the learning curve and might make mistakes here and there but they are certain to pick up lessons on the go. It is worth mentioning here that Gill and Pant are the only Indians to score Test and ODI hundreds in the calendar year.

Earlier, Rishabh Pant became the first Asian wicket-keeper batter to essay hundreds in the 50-over format and the Test format against England in England earlier this year.

Currently, Pant is part of the ongoing Test series against the Tigers wherein he scored 46 off 45 including 6 fours and 2 sixes in the first innings of the opening Test in Chattogram.

On the contrary, Shubman Gill notched up his maiden Test century during the second innings of the first Test.
