Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has made an indelible mark across all formats of the game and is currently the best batsman in the world. However, he has enjoyed batting in ODIs more than any other format, given his statistics.

India’s run-scoring machine has played 265 ODIs in his career wherein he scored 12471 runs at a staggering batting average of 57.5 including 44 centuries and 64 half-centuries.

He registered his personal best score of 183 against the Pakistan cricket team in the Asia Cup in 2012. Kohli was last seen in action during the two-match Test series against the Bangladesh cricket team.

Recently, he also ended his ODI century drought after 40 months by smashing his 44th ODI century in the dead rubber fixture against the Tigers in Chattogram. He has not been listed in the T20I squad for the Sri Lanka series.

Virat Kohli will be back in cricketing action for the three-match ODI series against the Lankans and the ODI series opener will go all guns blazing on January 10 in Guwahati in Assam.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer, Gautam Gambhir reckons Virat Kohli has an important role for Team India in the 50-over format leading into the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup in 2023.

Gambhir stressed the fact that this will be Virat Kohli’s fourth ODI World Cup and added that there are very few players who get so many opportunities to play in World Cups.

The 2011 World Cup also added that there cannot be a more massive accomplishment than having two ODI World Cup medals. Gambhir further echoed that only a few players will have two ODI World Cup medals.

Virat Kohli was part of the World Cup winning team in 2011 and will be looking forward to giving absolutely everything in the upcoming ODI World Cup in India.
