This former Indian coach might be the new head coach of Pakistan cricket team

PCB wants to have a new head coach for Pakistan cricket team after T20 World Cup 2021

Gary Kirsten, who coached India from 2008 to 2011, might become the new head coach of the Pakistan cricket team after the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021.

There has been a leadership change at the top positions of PCB which led to the resignation of former Pakistan head coach Misbah ul Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis.

Saqlain Mushtaq is currently the interim head coach of the Pakistan cricket team

The Pakistan cricket team is currently playing under the interim head coach Saqlain Mushtaq and interim batting and bowling consultants Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander, respectively. However, these people have been roped in only for the T20 World Cup and it’s very likely that Pakistan will have a new coaching staff once the T20 World Cup concludes.

As far as Gary Kirsten is concerned, he is a very reputed coach in the international circuit, as he won the ODI World Cup with India in 2011. India hadn’t won an ODI World Cup for a period of 28 years before Gary Kirsten and the former Indian captain MS Dhoni came together and built a fantastic culture in the Indian dressing room to come up with significant results in big matches.

Apart from Gary Kirsten, Peter Moores and Simon Katich are some of the other names which are doing rounds in the Pakistani media for the role of the next head coach of the Pakistan cricket team

One thing is for sure though that for any of these foreign coaches to take up the Pakistan job, PCB will have to convince them that they have got a very good project and the coaches will be allowed to work freely. Most of the coaches these days prefer franchise jobs over national team jobs because of the freedom that they get at the franchise level.

The new PCB chairman, Ramiz Raja, is believed to be someone who is strongly in favor of the appointment of a foreign coach to have a cultural reset in Pakistani cricket.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
