2 Highest paid Australian players in Big Bash League 2022/23

The success of the inaugural edition of the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup 2007 paved the way for the introduction of franchise T20 leagues all over the world.

The Indian Premier League kick-started in 2008 and it was a grand success from an entertainment and business point of view as well. After that, several other countries launched their own T20 competitions.

While IPL is the most-watched T20 tournament in the world, Australia’s very own Big Bash League is now the second-most watched T20 competition. Big Bash League has by far completed as many as eleven seasons since its inception.

The ongoing twelfth edition of the BBL has lived up to the expectations of the fans. Perth Scorchers have dominated the season so far as they have won five games and lost just once and are on top of the table.

They have aggregated 10 points whereas the likes of Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades have gained eight points so far and are placed second and third on the BBL 2022/23 points table.

Now in this article, we’ll take a look at the two highest-paid Australian players in Big Bash League 2022/23.

1. D’Arcy Short

D’Arcy John Matthew Short represents Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League. The 32-year-old who made his international debut for the Australian cricket team in 2018 is one of the most sought-after players in the BBL.

D’Arcy Short is the most expensive player in this edition’s Big Bash League. His significant contribution to the league for the past five years made him one of the top players. Short has a huge salary of $258,900.

2. Andrew Tye

Andrew Tye is one of the vital cogs of Perth Scorchers’ bowling department. The 33-year-old is the second-most expensive player in the ongoing edition of the Big Bash League.

The veteran fast bowler has a mind-blowing annual salary of $246,800. He has played 90 games in the BBL wherein he has accounted for 131 dismissals at a pretty decent economy of 7.74.
