The IPL 2023 is here and so is the nation’s favourite son MS Dhoni. Chennai Super Kings will take on Gujarat Titans in the tournament opener on Friday (31st March). On Thursday (30th March), team captains posed with the trophy in Ahmedabad ahead of the league.

What was notable was MS Dhoni, who was present in the captain’s picture in 2008, is still going strong and will lead the side in 2023 as well. The keeper batter is arguably one of the best batters to have played in the league. He has played an instrumental in the success of the league and in making his side among the most dominant forces in the tournament.

Dhoni has made CSK a staggering brand in world of cricket. The wicketkeeper batter has led CSK to four titles in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021 and is the chief architect in making the franchise the brand it is today. Dhoni took the franchise to record nine IPL finals in the tournament history and in 219 games, he 132 games as a skipper with a 60.77% win record.

He took CSK into the playoffs of all the seasons they had participated except in 2020 and 2022, where they finished seventh and ninth respectively. He is now gearing up for the 16th edition of the league and it’s fair to say that till then he’s there CSK will always be the favourites to win.
