T20 World Cup: Sachin Tendulkar speaks out, Points out India’s weakness

After India’s disappointing show at the ongoing T20 World Cup, things have reached a very critical place for team India. India’s former cricketer & legendary player Sachin Tendulkar took on to social media & mentioned his analysis for the disheartening performance from Men in Blue.

On Sunday, India’s batting order completely collapsed & especially struggled to face New Zealand’s leg spinner Ish Sodhi. Sodhi, in four overs, gave away only 17 runs & took 2 wickets, was named as the player of the match. His key wickets were Rohit Sharma (14) & Virat Kohli (9). These two dismissals from Sodhi’s side set the pace of the whole match & helped New Zealand to score a big win against India.

Sachin, on his official Facebook page, posted his analysis of team India’s performance.

“I’ve noticed one thing, which is that the leg spinners who are mixing their deliveries, bowling googlies, top-spin, flipper, and normal leg-spin have been successful in the recent past against India,” said Tendulkar.

“Ish Sodhi was very effective, and on the other end, Santner also bowled well. Both gave only 32 runs in eight overs, which is a very impactful performance. I believe this is the area where we have to improve,” added the legend.

“Bowlers will have to be impactful” – Sachin Tendulkar

Tendulkar also analysed the bowling performance of team India. He clearly mentioned that there is no impact from Indian bowlers in the past two matches. The only way any opposition can come under pressure is when the bowlers keep the run rate in check & timely take some crucial wickets.

“In (defending) such totals, you need to pick at least three wickets in the first six overs. We didn’t concede many runs, Bumrah took one wicket, but it wasn’t an impactful start,” said Tendulkar.

“We started with Varun Chakravarthy, the mystery bowler. If their openers hadn’t picked him, we had chances to take quick wickets. But it didn’t happen.” he added

Chances for India to qualify for the semi-finals are not looking good. Men in blue can only qualify if they win all the three fixtures against Afghanistan, Namibia & Scotland with a big margin & on the other hand New Zealand losses a match against any of the ones.
