Steve Smith picks top 5 current players in the World, Leaves out Babar Azam

Cricketers have always set high standards for themselves in today’s world. It’s not that easy to secure a spot in the national cricket team and the ones who maintain their consistency levels are in the long-term project.

Batters and bowlers have been giving it all for their respective teams in a bid to win games. The competition has well and truly become more and more intense in contemporary cricket, which is a true fact.

Meanwhile, the Australian cricketer, Steve Smith, while speaking to Fox Cricket, has picked the current top five players in the world. It includes two Indians, one player from England, South Africa and Australia.

According to Steve Smith, Virat Kohli is the top player in the world currently and the run-machine topped the list. Kohli recently dominated the T20 World Cup 2022 tournament with ease and went on to become the leading run-getter in the history of the T20 World Cup.

Moreover, he topped the batting charts in this edition, aggregating 296 runs, smashing fifty against Pakistan, Netherlands, Bangladesh and England respectively. After that, England cricketer Joe Root comes next on the list.

Root has often led England’s batting attack by example, particularly in the longest format of the game. Smith picked his teammate and bowling all-rounder Pat Cummins in the list.

Cummins has been a consistent performer for the team for a long time now and he found his place in the list. South Africa’s speed gun, Kagiso Rabada comes fourth on the list. Rabada has also been a consistent performer for his national cricket team across formats.

Last but not least, India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja finds himself on the list. The all-rounder is a three-dimensional material where he scores marks in batting, bowling and fielding respectively. Jadeja is currently one of the best all-rounders in the world.
