Shivam Dube reacts to RCB releasing him before IPL 2021

Indian Premier League is considered the benchmark for top cricketing leagues in the world. And to play in such a tournament has always remained the ultimate dream of cricketers. However, as high as the craze is, the performance also needs to be top-level. Numerous Cricketers can replace you as soon as you start performing below par.

The same situation happened with Shivam Dube last year. Playing for the RCB side, Dube had an average show of his skills which led to his exit from the franchise. RCB decided to release him before IPL 2021, and then RR bought him.

The cricketer had a very decent outing in IPL 2020. He managed to score 129 runs with the bat and grabbed four wickets with the ball. This year’s performance has been slightly better as he has already smashed 145 runs in this year’s edition.

The all-rounder was asked to share his experience with Virat Kohli and his side in an interview with Sportskeeda. He stated that

“Definitely I would have liked to have batted higher up the order at No.4 or No.5 for RCB. But it is something that the captain and management decide. I didn’t have a bad season (IPL 2020) since it was not easy to consistently hit 2-3 sixes at the death. Releasing me was the choice of the franchise.”

He also added that he has been happy playing for the RR side. Having the freedom to swing his arms at number 4 is giving him the motivation. He also went on to credit Sanju Samson for giving him the opportunity and showing faith in him.

It would be interesting to see how he performs if the second phase of IPL 2021 takes place. The BCCI is yet to finalize the September window and venue for the same.
