“Rohit Sharma will be the leading run scorer in T20 World Cup 2021,” says David Warner

Rohit Sharma had scored a match winning half century in the second warm up match against Australia

The Australian opening batsman David Warner has predicted that the Indian vice captain Rohit Sharma will be the leading run scorer in the ongoing T20 World Cup in UAE.

Warner was speaking to ICC’s official website where he was asked who, he thinks, might end up at the top of the run scoring chart in this World Cup and while there are a lot of world class batsmen on show in the tournament, Warner picked Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma didn’t have a great IPL recently, but he showed some good form with the bat in the second warm up match against Australia where he scored 60 off 41 balls and made it quite easy for India to chase down the total set by Australia batting first.

Rohit was India’s most fluent run scorer in the last ICC tournament India had played which was the ODI World Cup in England in 2019. The classy right hander had scored 5 hundreds there and had taken India to the semi final of the tournament where they eventually lost to New Zealand.

Rohit Sharma would have fond memories of UAE as well because the last time he played a multinational tournament in UAE, he lifted the Asia Cup trophy as a captain and his performance with the bat in that tournament was top notch again.

Rohit Sharma has played for India in every single T20 World Cup till date

The reason why Rohit can be backed to do well in UAE conditions is because he is a good player of spin and he has got different gears in his batting. He can go through different stages of the game with different gears and can attack the right bowlers at the right time, which is very important while playing on UAE pitches.

Rohit Sharma has played for India in every single T20 World Cup in the past and he has played some vital innings in the big games. In the first ever T20 World Cup which was played in 2007 in South Africa, Rohit Sharma’s contribution with the bat in the final match against Pakistan had turned out to be a match winning contribution for India.
