Rohit Sharma struggling to get going in the T20 World Cup 2022

Although India has reached the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022, one of the biggest concerns for them has been the form of the skipper, Rohit Sharma, with the bat. The opening batter has struggled to get going in the tournament and has looked clueless so far.

It’s fair to say that his ultra-aggressive approach has been the reason behind his poor form in the tournament. Although he scored one fifty in the event, he looked scratchy during that innings as well.

His poor run of form has been one of the main reasons behind India getting poor starts. In the five innings so far that he has played in the tournament, Rohit has managed just  89 runs in five at a poor average and strike rate of 17.80 and 109.87 respectively.

Although he’s doing a great job as the skipper of the side with the semi-final around the corner, the team would want his skipper to step up and lead from the front.

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has come out in support of Rohit Sharma and said that he feels that the India skipper is saving his runs for the knockout matches. Speaking to India Today, he said:

“Let’s hope Rohit Sharma is saving the runs for knockouts, they are going to be big matches”.
