India and New Zealand are currently locking horns in the first ODI at Eden Park in Auckland. In what was a massive boost for Indian fans, Sanju Samson finally got a chance in the playing XI alongside Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik, who got their debut caps.
Sanju however, didn’t disappoint as he played a decent knock with the bat and bailed India out of trouble to help them post a good total on the board. The right-hander came to bat when the visitors were tumbling at 160/4.
Sanju played a decent knock of 36 runs in 38 balls and bailed India out of trouble when it seemed they would struggle to get going after quick blows. He rotated the strike sensationally well and also smashed 4 fours in his innings.
Sanju stitched a crucial 94-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer, who scored 80 runs, and helped India cross the 300-run mark in the first ODI against New Zealand. His knock gave India much-needed momentum and helped them put the opposition under pressure.
