With the losses to India and Zimbabwe, Pakistan had almost found their way out of the T20 World Cup. However, the team did well in the next games and also had a few results go their way. They opened their account against the Netherlands while their best display on the field happened against South Africa.
On the final day of the Super 12 stage, Pakistan needed to win against Bangladesh while they also wanted one of India or South Africa to lose their games. Since the matches for India and South Africa were against Zimbabwe and the Netherlands, Pakistan did not have a lot of hope. However, the Proteas crumbled under pressure against the Dutch. This paved the way for both Pakistan and Bangladesh to have a crack at the semi-final spot. It was an interesting game but in the end, Babar Azam and his team crossed the line. Having reached the semis in a dramatic manner, Pakistan will surely be high on confidence. Hence, they can be backed to go on and even win the trophy.
