South African batting great Hashim Amla has announced his retirement from all forms of the game. He was one of the vital cogs of the Proteas’ batting line-up where he led the batting attack by example more often than not.

During the playing days of his cricketing career, he dominated the opposition teams with immaculate batting skills. Once he gets going, there was no stopping him and that’s how he accomplished several milestones in his career.

Regarded as one of the greatest batters of all time, Hashim Amla still holds the record for being the fastest batsman ever to essay 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 runs in One-Day Internationals.

Hashim Amla retires from all forms of the game

The South African cricket team largely benefitted from his services in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. Having played 124 Tests, 181 ODIs and 44 T20Is in his cricketing career, Hashim Amla scored 9282 runs in Tests, 8113 runs in ODIs and 1277 runs in T20Is.

The former Proteas batting great totally enjoyed playing the Test and the ODI format. He scored 9282 runs at an average of 46.6 including 28 centuries and 41 fifties, registering his personal best score of an unbeaten 311.

On the other hand, he has scored 8113 runs at an average of 49.5 and a strike rate of 88.4 including 27 centuries, and 39 fifties to his name. As far as the T20I format is concerned, he scored 1277 runs in 44 T20Is at an average of 33.6 including eight half-centuries.

On the contrary, Hashim Amla has played 16 games in the Indian Premier League, scoring 577 runs at an average of 44.4 including 2 centuries and 3 fifties to his name.

Overall, he has played 164 T20s in the domestic circuit wherein he scored 4563 runs at an average of 30.83 including 2 centuries and 30 fifties to his name. Even the opposition fans took a liking to his batting and Hashim Amla is a gentleman by nature. The cricket fraternity will miss him for sure.
