For the most part of the IPL 2022 Mega-Auctions, Mumbai Indians were silent spectators. However, in the accelerated round, the five-time champions made some top signings. One of their expensive signings was Tim David. It seems they already had a solid plan for the player. This is because the batting position of the player has been revealed already by the franchise. In this article, we take a look at what Mumbai Indian owner Akash Ambani had to say about the batting position of Tim David for IPL 2022.
Mumbai Indians sign Tim David
Tim David played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the UAE phase of IPL 2021. He did not get too many chances to leave an impression. That said, in every other league that he is participating in, the Singapore-born player has been in top form. While he set the Big Bash League on fire with his performances, he is currently repeating the same for Multan Sultans in PSL.
Hence, it was expected that he would go for a big sum at IPL 2022 Mega-Auctions. There was an intense bidding war and it was Mumbai who eventually landed the player at INR 8.25 Cr. David will now partner with Kieron Pollard in the lower middle-order while he will also give an extra spin option to Rohit Sharma.
The batting position of Tim David for IPL 2022 has been revealed
After signing the player, Akash Ambani has announced the batting position for the highly-rated cricketer. He said that he will play at No.6. Tim David’s role will be to finish games, along with Kieron Pollard.
Aakash Ambani said "Tim David will bat at 6 – his experience will help in the finishing along with Pollard".

Considering Mumbai Indians lost Hardik Pandya, they needed another multi-utility player of a similar skillset in the XI. Hence, they went hard for Tim David. Mumbai also signed Jofra Archer and Tymal Mills at the auctions. Both will aid Jasprit Bumrah in the pace department.
