The former West Indies fast bowler and one of the renowned IPL commentators, Ian Bishop, is of the view that the Lucknow Supergiants fast bowler Mohsin Khan should be in the frame of selection for the Indian national team, along with Umran Malik and Kuldeep Sen.
According to Ian Bishop, maybe the Indian selectors can think about Kuldeep Sen later, but Mohsin Khan and Umran Malik are the two bowlers who must be considered the next time the Indian selection committee meets to select the Indian side for the shortest format of the game.
After the IPL, India has to play a 5-match T20I series against South Africa and the Indian selectors are expected to rest a lot of the senior Indian players for that series because of their consistent workload. There is a lot of international cricket to be played after the IPL and in all likelihood, the selectors will give the seniors a break.
In that case, there could be an opening for the others which include the IPL performers and also some of the fringe players who have been with the Indian squad for quite sometime, but haven’t got a lot of playing opportunities.
The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Bhuvneshwar Kumar might be rested and while BCCI sources have already been hinting that the selectors are keeping a close eye on Umran Malik, now Mohsin has caught everyone’s eye as well.
Ian Bishop also wants the Indian selectors to keep an eye on Kuldeep Sen
What goes in favor of Mohsin is he is a left armer and India hasn’t been able to find too many left arm fast bowlers after Zaheer Khan. Mohsin is also a very versatile fast bowler. He can bowl in the range of 140 kph, but has also got variations and since he is quite tall, he can easily extract awkward bounce from good length area of the pitch.
As far as Umran is concerned, he is the talk of the town because of his sheer speeds as he is cranking up speeds over 150 kph almost every game. Kuldeep Sen is another fast bowler who is cranking up high speeds and picking wickets regularly for Rajasthan Royals.
Mohsin Khan is terrific. He should be front and center along with Umran Malik and a bit later on Kuldeep Sen, when INDIA sit to pick teams for international cricket post #TATAIPL2022
