2 players RCB forcibly signed in IPL 2024 Auctions

Sometimes, one decision that the management makes at the auction table could have an impact on some of their other decisions. It was the case for RCB in IPL 2024 Auctions. Some of the decisions were not great and they had to suffer later in the event. Here, we take a look at the list of three players RCB forcibly signed in IPL 2024 Auctions.

1) Lockie Ferguson

It was clear that RCB had Pat Cummins first on the list for the pacers whom they wanted to target. After they could not get him, the franchise went hard for Alzarri Joseph. While they did get the player, it was for a very high price. It affected them for the rest of the auctions.

While Alzarri is a good bowler, he is very inexperienced. Especially bowling in Chinnaswamy it requires a lot of skills backed by experience. Therefore, RCB were forced to go for someone like Lockie, who was unsold in the first round of the auctions. Nevertheless, it would not be a surprise if Lockie sneaks ahead of Alzarri to get a spot in the playing XI for the team.

2) Tom Curran

Tom Curran is one of the players RCB forcibly signed in IPL 2024 Auctions. Both the pacers signed by RCB – Alzarri Joseph and Lockie Ferguson, lack skills with the bat. In recent years, batting depth has been really important. In fact, one of the philosophies of Andy Flower is to have batting depth. However, with all such players like Pat Cummins and Gerald Coetzee not available, RCB had to look in a different direction.

Curran has developed himself as a hitter in recent years. In the Hundred, he has done well with the bat. He could also serve as a backup for Cameron Green. These reasons forced RCB to go for Tom Curran, although he has not enjoyed a good run in the IPL recently.
