List of commentators revealed for India Vs South Africa test series, Sunil Gavaskar only the Indian name

Star Sports might have their own commentary team working from their studio in Mumbai

Cricket South Africa’s official broadcaster SuperSport has revealed the list of commentators for the much anticipated India Vs South Africa test series. Sunil Gavaskar is the only Indian name on the list, which includes quite a few former South African cricketers and a female South African cricket analyst, Kass Naidoo.

Star Sports will be broadcasting the world feed of SuperSport in India, but it’s possible that they might use their own commentary team in their studio at times and produce a hybrid feed.

Some of the renowned commentators who will be on the world feed of the India Vs South Africa test series are Mark Nicholas, Pommie Mbangwa and Shaun Pollock. All three of them have been associated with SuperSport for a long time and they will be joined by the recently retired cricketers and relatively new broadcasters, Vernon Philander and Hashim Amla.

Philander and Amla were actually a part of the South African squad that beat India by 2-1 in the last test series the two teams played on the South African turf in 2018. Philander, in particular, was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball in the first couple of test matches.

Peterson will also be on the world feed of the India Vs South Africa test series

Robin Peterson is another modern-day retired cricketer who will be on air, but he was on air when India had toured South Africa last time as well, and he is a slightly more experienced broadcaster in comparison to Philander and Amla.

Mike Haysman is another commentator who has been a mainstay with SuperSport for a long time and will be behind the microphone once again, as the test summer gets underway in South Africa.

The commentary panel of Star Sports, which might be operating from their studio in Mumbai, might include the former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri as well. This is the first overseas test series India are playing since the resignation of Shastri from the head coach position.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
