The Pakistan middle order batsman Asif Ali has revealed that he hits more than 100 sixes, sometimes even 150 sixes in his practice sessions daily and it’s because of the fact that he hits so many sixes in practice, he makes six hitting look quite natural in the actual match.
Asif Ali can be regarded as best six hitter at the moment, along with another middle order batsman Khushdil Shah. The right hander had shown in the last T20 World Cup what he could do in the latter stages of the innings when he finished a tight game against Afghanistan by hitting four back to back sixes off the bowling of Karim Janat.
Big hitting also needs training: Asif Ali
Asif will have to bear the responsibility of playing the big shots down the order for Pakistan again in the upcoming Asia Cup. Speaking to the official twitter handle of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Asif said that big hitting in modern day cricket is not just about going out there and slogging the ball. A big hitter needs to train himself for the job so that his instincts can take over when he gets into a situation where big shots are necessary.

According to Asif Ali, when he plays 100 to 150 big shots in the nets everyday, he makes it easier for himself to do that in a game situation because his body and mind get trained in the nets to instinctively go for a big shot the moment he sees the ball in his arc and he doesn’t have to go out of his comfort zone to do that.
While many other big hitters also specifically train for range hitting during their practice sessions and look to hit the ball over the fence in different areas of the ground from different lengths, 100-150 is still quite an extraordinary no. of big shots for any batsman to play in a single net session.
