Punjab Kings led by Shikhar Dhawan have performed pretty well so far in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The Mohali-based franchise hasn’t won the IPL title since the inception of the cash-rich tournament.
They only made it to the playoffs twice in their history (once in the semi-finals and once in the finals). They lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2014 edition. However, since then, they have failed to operate as a team in the tournament.
They tasted more bitter defeats and failed to qualify for the playoffs since then. However, this time around, Punjab Kings seem to approach the ongoing edition of the IPL with a fresh and positive perspective.
Having played three games so far in the ongoing competition, they managed to win twice and lost just once. Punjab Kings won their first game against Kolkata Knight Riders by seven runs (DLS Method).
After that, they notched up a five-run thriller win over Rajasthan Royals in their second game. Nonetheless, they surrendered at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the third game. SRH beat PBKS by 8 wickets.
Liam Livingstone joins Punjab Kings for IPL 2023
Meanwhile, in the latest development, Punjab Kings receive a major boost going forward into the tournament as their marquee player Liam Livingstone has joined the team for the ongoing edition of the IPL.
The England international was retained on a contract estimated at INR 11.5 crore (£1.15m approx.) in the wake of a stellar first season with Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022 season.
The pivotal all-rounder showcased his all-round brilliance by leading the team’s batting and bowling units respectively. He scored 437 runs to his name with a staggering strike rate of 182.08.
On the other side of the coin, Liam Livingstone took as many as six wickets to his name. Liam Livingstone is expected to slot into their middle order and help the team in the best way possible.
Jus waiting for his return now Punjab will see different mode of batting….#PunjabKings ❤️❤️❤️❤️ https://t.co/fNJDbufCxn

they have a really strong team, just need the secondary bowlers + Shahrukh to click. Otherwise the batting and pacers are damn good.

They try to do too many things within team in all auction, maybe culture or stability issue. Apart from few teams, no one has cracked it.
