The first match of the 2022 edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League happened earlier today, where the Chepauk Super Gillies lost to the Nellai Royal Kings in the Super Over. The Kings batted first and scored 184 runs on the board. In reply, the Super Gillies also finished with 184 runs in their 20 overs. A controversial incident involving Narayan Jagadeesan transpired during the match.
Speaking about the game between the Nellai Royal Kings and Chepauk Super Gillies first, CSG won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Indian Cement Company Ground in Tirunelveli. Laxman Suryaprakash and Sanjay Yadav smashed fifties for NRK as they set a 185-run target for CSK.
Yadav was the top-scorer for NRK with a 47-ball 87. He smashed five fours and six sixes in his innings. Laxman opened the innings and aggregated 62 runs off 50 deliveries, hitting eight fours. S Harish Kumar was the pick of the bowlers for CSG. He conceded 30 runs in his four overs and took one wicket.
Chasing 185 to start TNPL 2022 on a winning note, CSG started the innings with Narayan Jagadeesan and Kaushik Gandhi being the two openers. They provided the team with a good start before Baba Aparajith ran Jagadeesan out at the non-striker’s end while he was out of his crease.
Narayan Jagadeesan was batting on 25 runs off 15 deliveries at that stage. He looked in good nick as he had smacked four fours. However, his innings came to an abrupt end due to that dismissal. It is within the laws of the game, which is why the fans were shocked to see Jagadeesan lose his cool and show the finger to the bowler while going back to the dressing room.

N Jagadeesan is run out at the non-striker's end for leaving the crease early. High time this mode of dismissal is normalised. #TNPL2022
