IPL 2021: Five Interesting Registrations For Auction

The auction for the IPL 2021 will take place on 18 February, in Chennai. A total of 1097 players (814 Indian and 283 foreign) have registered at different base prices. The franchises will be spending their money on the deserving players to strengthen their squad.

There have been a few engrossing registrations, including the overseas players also. The players like Sreesanth and Cheteshwar Pujara are some interesting registrations for the auction. They haven’t played the league for quite a while now.

In this article, we look at the five such interesting players to register themselves for the auctions:

1. Dawid Malan (ENG)

The first player to feature in this article is the Englishman, David Malan. The left-handed batsman has set his base price of INR 1.5 crore for the auction. The 33-years old is an experienced campaigner, featuring in different T20 leagues around the globe.

There would be a few teams looking to buy Dawid Malan, given his T20 exploits. In the T20Is, the Roehampton-born has amassed 855 runs in 19 innings at a sensational batting average of 53.43 with the willow. Dawid Malan can be an excellent pick in the IPL 2021 if bought.

2. S Sreesanth (IND)

Sreesanth is one of the most enthralling names in the auction list. The pacer is making a comeback after serving a seven-year ban for being involved in the match-fixing scandal. The Kerala-born has set a base price of 75 Lakhs.

The pacer has been part of Kings XI Punjab, Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL earlier, and will be hoping to get picked by one of the teams this time as well. In the IPL, the 37-years old has snared 40 wickets, with his best bowling figures coming against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the inaugural edition. Though he doesn’t possess the same skill set now, he can still add value to a few franchises.

3. Cheteshwar Pujara (IND)

Cheteshwar Pujara is not known for his T20 exploits, given his game is largely compatible for Tests. Just after he made himself available for the IPL, the fans started making fun of him. Pujara, though, is willing to play the biggest T20 league again and has put a base price of 50 Lakhs.

The right-handed batsman has served Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab earlier in the Indian Premier League. The Rajkot-born has scored 390 runs in 30 innings at a mere strike rate of 99.74 with the bat. His last match in the IPL came in 2014 against the Mumbai Indians.

4. Hanuma Vihari (IND)

Hanuma Vihari is another player whose game is largely congruent to the Tests only. The right-handed batsman has made himself available for the upcoming IPL auction with a base price of 1 crore. The Kakinada-born has had outings with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals in this league earlier.

In the IPL, Vihari has scored 284 in 23 innings, at a low average of 14.2 only with the blade. A strike rate of 88.47 in this tournament doesn’t help his case either. Hence, Hanuma Vihari might not get any buyer in the auction.

5. Arjun Tendulkar (IND)

The fifth player to make this list is the Mumbai pacer, Arjun Tendulkar. The left-arm pacer has set a base price of 20 Lakhs and will be expecting to get picked by one of the teams. The 21-years old was part of the Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, 2021.

The all-rounder has been part of the Mumbai Indians and Indian Cricket Team as a net bowler earlier. He would have learnt a lot during this duration. His left-arm action can be very beneficial and, hence, the teams might target him in the IPL 2021 auction.
