“Smith plays around with his hands and does all that stuff” – Alex Carey responds to Allan Border’s shocking remarks on Steve Smith

Australia’s best batsman Steve Smith was batting so well against India in the first Test match at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. When Australia lost Usman Khawaja and David Warner for 1 run, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne dictated the terms by playing a smart brand of cricket.

Both the right-handed batters surged ahead quite slowly as they went on to add 82 runs for the third wicket before Marnus Labuschagne was stumped out by KS Bharat off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling.

While Marnus Labuschagne departed after scoring 49 runs, Steve Smith tried his best to survive the battle. However, he couldn’t defy the odds on the first day as he fell prey to Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling.

Steve Smith tried to defend the ball in the first place but was literally outsmarted by Jadeja’s brilliant delivery that went on to make a mess of Smith’s stumps. Following the dismissal, Steve Smith gave a thumbs-up to Jadeja, as part of the sporting gesture, to applaud the opponent.

Alex Carey responds to Allan Border’s shocking remarks on Steve Smith

Former Australian captain, Allan Border launched a scathing attack on Steve Smith for giving thumbs-up to Ravindra Jadeja as he went on to label Steve Smith’s act “ridiculous”.

Allan Border was not so pleased with Smith’s gesture towards Jadeja as the batter was completely beaten outside the off-stump. After Border called Smith’s act ‘ridiculous’, Australia’s wicketkeeper-batsman came to Steve Smith’s defence by responding to Border’s shocking remarks.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Alex Carey added that the entire Australian team management respect Allan Border. Carey further added that Steve Smith does it in all situations of the game as he plays around with his hands and does all that small stuff.

Team India have taken the first lead in the series by winning the game by an innings and 132 runs. They will take on Australia in the second Test match at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
