Here’s The Reason Why Bangladesh Did Not Allow Taskin Ahmed To Play For Lucknow In IPL 2022

The Lucknow Super Giants seem to have some troubles with regard to their overseas pacers ahead of IPL 2022. Taskin Ahmed will not be able to join the squad.

The Lucknow-based franchise signed Mark Wood for INR 7.5 crore at the mega auction earlier this year. However, Wood was ruled out of IPL 2022 because of an elbow injury. After that, the Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gautam Gambhir reportedly approached Bangladesh pacer Ahmed to join the squad as a replacement.

However, as per reports, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has not allowed him to participate in the league.

As per a BCB official, the team management wants him to remain available for the ICC World Test Championship series against the South African cricket team. Lucknow were ready to sign Taskin Ahmed if he would be available for the full season, meaning he would have to miss the two Test matches against the Proteas.

The BCB official further added that the Bangladesh cricket team will also play matches against India later this year, which is why they want Taskin to remain fresh.

We feel it won’t be right for Taskin Ahmed to take part in the IPL: BCB official

Earlier today, reports surfaced that the Lucknow Super Giants were looking to sign Taskin Ahmed as a replacement for Mark Wood. Responding to the reports, Bangladesh Cricket Board cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus informed reporters:

”Since we have two important series like the ongoing home tour of South Africa and the home series against India, we feel it won’t be right for him to take part in the IPL,. We have spoken with Taskin and he has understood the whole situation.”

Yunus added that Taskin Ahmed has informed the Lucknow Super Giants team management that he will not play for them in IPL 2022. It will be interesting to see which player replaces Mark Wood this season at LSG.
