The ICC World Test Championship 2023 is keeping every cricket lover on its toes. Things are getting intense as we approach the summit clash of the championship. The final to take place from June 7 to 11 at the Oval with a reserve day in place (12 June). With just a few series left in the cycle, we are still unsure of who will be the two teams that will play the summit clash. Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and India are in contention. The current situation states that India and Australia will be the two finalists but one cannot predict the game of cricket as there’s still a chance for Sri Lanka as well to qualify.
Here is how Australia can still get knocked out of 2023 World Test championship
Australia has been a dominant force in this edition of the World Test Championship. Ahead of the India series they were a sure shot for the spot in the final. But after two losses against India, their chances to qualify have reduced a bit.
Australia are currently placed at the top of the points table with with a win percentage of 66.67% and 136 points. They have won 10 games in this edition and have lost only 4 games, which is why they are the clear favourites to qualify for the final.
They suffered a massive innings and 132-runs and 6 wickets loss against India in first two games. However, they still can afford to lose the last two matches as they have a high winning percentage in the points table.
The only way they can get knocked out of 2023 World Test championship is to lose the last two games against India and Sri Lanka to beat New Zealand 2-0 in the Test series. However, to be on the safer side, they need at least one draw against India to qualify.
