“He might play 2024 but for sure he’s not playing 2026”, Twitter user reacts after a die-hard Virat Kohli fan wants his idol to play ICC T20 World Cup 2026

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli is one of the fittest cricketers in the sport. The Delhi-born cricketer recently turned 34 on November 5. Despite having age on his side, he still breezes through the wickets with relative ease.

When the stalwart for out of form for quite a long time, naysayers slammed him by saying that it is nearly the end of the chapter for him. However, the run machine made a stellar comeback by rising from the ashes in Asia Cup 2022.

He finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer for India by accumulating 276 runs in five innings wherein he slammed two half-centuries followed by a maiden T20I century.

Kohli’s form was so important for him to get back into the business and he ended his century drought after 1012 days by scoring a hundred against the Afghanistan cricket team in the Gulf nation. He also finished ICC T20 World Cup 2022 as the leading run-scorer with 296 runs including 4 half-centuries.

Meanwhile, an ardent fan of Virat Kohli took to his Twitter account and expressed his wish to see his idol play the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, as the marquee event will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

On the other hand, some fans expressed that Virat Kohli would surely feature in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 but not in ICC T20 WC 2026 because at that time he will be 37 years old.

The Indian selection committee is known for discarding the senior players from their set-up once they reach 36 or 37 years old. However, with Virat Kohli being in pretty good shape and maintaining his fitness levels, we can expect him to play at least for the next five years.

Virat Kohli was recently rested for India’s tour of New Zealand and will be back in action for India’s tour of Bangladesh which includes three ODIs and two Tests. The first ODI will kick off on December 4 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
