Hardik Pandya reveals an interesting story about MS Dhoni from New Zealand tour of 2019

ODI series against New Zealand in 2019 was the comeback series for Hardik Pandya after his provisional suspension

Hardik Pandya has revealed an interesting story about him and MS Dhoni which might surprise a few people. According to Hardik, when he was suddenly brought back into the Indian team in 2019 after his provisional suspension for his comments on the show “Koffee with Karan”, the rooms for the players were pre-booked and there was no room available for him in the hotel the team was staying.

But, MS Dhoni told the team staff to ask Hardik Pandya to come and stay in his room as he doesn’t sleep on his bed anyway. Hardik revealed for the time he was there in MS Dhoni’s room for that tour, Dhoni slept on the floor, while he slept on Dhoni’s bed.

“When I was picked for the New Zealand series, initially there were no hotel rooms. But then I get a call, saying, “You just come. MS has told us, ‘I don’t sleep on the bed (in any case). He (Hardik) will sleep on my bed and I will sleep on the floor,” Hardik said in an interview to ESPNcricinfo.

Hardik Pandya says MS Dhoni is his life coach to some extent

Not only that, Hardik insisted that his bond with MS Dhoni is special. He is his life coach to some extent because whenever he has some thoughts in his mind, he calls Dhoni and asks these are the things he is thinking, what could be the reason?

Hardik said he never really sees Dhoni as the big superstar that he is in Indian cricket. He rather sees him as someone who is very close to him and whom he can share anything with, and that is probably the reason why he has such a strong bond with Dhoni.

MS Dhoni is now back as a mentor of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup and Hardik Pandya will have the opportunity to spend some time with Dhoni again, which might help him with his game, as his form in the second leg of IPL 2021 was a little bit shaky.

Hardik is going to be an extremely important player for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup, particularly if he starts bowling because he then gives India the kind of balance they need as he provides the team batting depth as well as an extra bowling resource.
