“Great batsman against ordinary bowling, ordinary batsman against great bowling”, Twitter reacts to Shreyas Iyer’s disappointing form in T20Is

India and West Indies are engaged in a five-match T20I series at the moment. The first encounter is currently ongoing in Trinidad. Batting first, India had a good start. However, some quick fall of wickets dented the momentum. India’s vice-captain in the ODI series Shreyas Iyer fell for a four-ball duck. He has found it hard in T20I cricket in recent months. Therefore, there were many reactions on Twitter. On that note, here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted to Shreyas Iyer’s disappointing form in T20Is.

Shreyas Iyer’s disappointing form in T20Is

After a good show by the openers, the platform was set for Shreyas Iyer to continue his form from the ODI series. However, he faced three deliveries before getting out on his fourth. Left-arm pacer Obed McCoy was the bowler who took Iyer’s wicket.

Iyer did not do very well in the five-match home series against South Africa. He got one game against England and could score just 28 runs from 23 deliveries. On the other hand, the likes of Deepak Hooda have been in terrific form. Virat Kohli, on his return, would also be one of the options for the No.3 role. On top of this, there is Suryakumar Yadav, who is seen as India’s best bet at No.3. Amidst this competition, Iyer is finding it hard to make a mark for himself. Moreover, his weakness against pace and short balls is getting exposed again and again. Therefore, a few experts have already predicted that he might not make it to the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
