Shubman Gill smashes sensational 126 runs against Karnataka in the Quarter final of the SMAT
Punjab and Karnataka are locking horns in the Quarter Final 1 of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Asked to bat first, Punjab were in deep trouble as they lost three quick wickets and were tumbling at 18/3.
However, Shubman Gill stepped up big time and played a knock for ages for his domestic team. He first assessed the conditions well and once he got settled in, he took Karnataka bowlers to cleaners and smashed them all over the park.
He along with Anmolpreet Singh (59) steadied the innings and give them much-needed momentum. However, once his partner got out, Gill unleashed his beast mode and smashed boundaries and sixes for fun as he put the opposition under tremendous pressure.
Gill scored 126 runs in just 55 balls under pressure that helped Punjab post a mammoth total of 225 runs on the board. His innings were laced with 11 fours and 9 sixes. Notably, he yesterday was chosen for the Indian T20I side for the series against New Zealand and celebrated his call-up with staggering innings.

Never before was Strike Rate more important than the actual runs scored. With KL & Rohit struggling at the top for far too long, it’s right time for Shubham to break the shackles and cement his spot along with Pant & Samson. We need dashers not draggers.
