“Don’t mislead the fans,” Sachin Tendulkar slams the organisers of Legend League Cricket (LLC)

Legend League Cricket will get underway later this month and will feature plenty of former superstars

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is furious about the fact that his name is being used by the organisers of Legend League Cricket (LLC) to promote the tournament, while he is not even going to take part in the tournament.

LLC is a tournament which is being organised specifically for the retired players and former players from different countries are going to participate in the tournament, but Sachin is not one of them. However, in the promo of the tournament, which is already on TV and which features Indian superstar of the millennium Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin is being mentioned as one of the names who will take part of the tournament.

Sachin Tendulkar’s company, SRT sports management private limited, released a statement on the twitter handle of its app named “100MB” insisting that the master blaster’s name should not be used in the promotion of the event, as it is misleading the fans, who would anticipate the event thinking that Sachin would actually play, while Sachin has no plans to play.

Statement by Sachin Tendulkar also asks for Amitabh Bachchan to not be misled

The statement also insists that Amitabh Bachchan should not be misled either, because if he has mentioned in the promo that Sachin is participating in the event, then he must be told by the organisers that Sachin is participating, which is not the truth and such respected figures should not be misled.

Interestingly, the previous Indian head coach Ravi Shastri, who was in charge of the Indian cricket team till the last T20 World Cup, is the commissioner of LLC and is looking after all the affairs related to the event, whether it’s the promo or the signing of players or finalising the schedule and for Sachin Tendulkar to criticise the “organisers” through a statement, it’s quite clearly a dig at Ravi Shastri as well.

As far as the Indian stars in LLC are concerned, the likes of Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh will be playing in the tournament, while some of the Pakistani cricketers like Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi will be representing the Pakistani legends as well. The tournament will be telecasted live in India on Sony network and the Sony LIV app and because of the presence of some of the former superstars, the tournament has become quite an anticipated event already. It remains to be seen how successful the tournament eventually turns out to be.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
