England defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets to win the 2022 T20 World Cup on Sunday. With this, the Englishmen became the first Men’s Team to have the T20 World Cup and the ODI World Cup at the same time. On that note, here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as England becomes the first Men’s team to hold the T20 World Cup and ODI World Cup at the same time.
England is the holder of the T20 World Cup and ODI World Cup
A few years ago, England did not enjoy a great time in the white-ball game. Especially after the 2015 ODI World Cup, the team hit an all-time low. However, the management took a conscious approach and revolutionized the setup to give a formidable squad. As a result, England has become an extremely strong team in the T20 and 50-over formats.
In the 2019 ODI World Cup at home, England was dominant and despite a few controversies, won the final to lift the trophy. However, at the 2022 T20 World Cup, barring the defeat to Ireland, England was in good form and stuck to its approach to winning the competition. The template that England has now set will be used by many other teams wanting the same success. Credit must go to a few players who were a part of this change. While Eoin Morgan led the revolution, Jos Buttler has already given hints of successfully taking it over. Ben Stokes played a huge role in England winning the finals on both occasions.
Twitter reacts to England’s white-ball revolution
In 2013, India won the ICC Champions Trophy and later reached the finals of the 2014 T20 World Cup. If MS Dhoni’s men had won that game, India could have had all three trophies at once. On that note, here is how Twitter reacted to England’s success in the white-ball format:
England becomes the first team ever to hold the T20 and ODI World Cup at the same time in Men's cricket history.

Time to give Ben Stokes a knighthood. Been through a lot in his career but to have the mentality to be MOM in two WC finals shows what sort of bloke he is. https://t.co/TkMsCReZpE
