Steve Smith took charge of the captaincy duties and guided the Aussies to a victory in the third Test in Indore. However, the fourth Test ended in a draw as India won the BGT series.

However, the Aussies made a fantastic comeback in the ODI series. Steve Smith who led the team in Pat Cummins’ absence steered the Men in Yellow to a 2-1 series win.

There was a big surprise for the fans as Steve Smith went unsold in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. Australia’s best batsman didn’t put his name in the IPL 2023 mini-auction after going unsold in IPL 2022 auction.

Needless to say, Steve Smith will be seen in an entirely different avatar in the upcoming season of the IPL. The veteran cricketer will be doing commentary for the sixteenth edition of India’s premier T20 tournament.

Steve Smith has a plethora of experience playing in the IPL. He has played as many as 103 games in the IPL wherein he scored 2485 runs at an average of 34.51 and has maintained a strike rate of 128.09.

Notably, he has slammed as many as eleven half-centuries and one century to his name. The IPL 2023 is just less than four days away from getting underway. Chennai Super Kings will lock horns with the IPL 2022 champions, Gujarat Titans in the tournament opener on March 31, Friday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
