The second Test between Bangladesh and India went down the wire and it saw the visitors thumping the hosts by the barest margin to win the series 2-1. Asked to bowl first, the KL Rahul-led side displayed a staggering performance with the ball and bundled out the opposition just for 227 runs.
Umesh Yadav and R Ashwin bagged four-wicket hauls while Mominul Haque was the lone warrior for his side and scored 84 runs to power his side to a decent first-innings total. Indian top order then struggled with the bat as KL Rahul (10), Shubman Gill (20), Cheteshwar Pujara (24) and Virat Kohli (24) were back in the just for just 94 runs.
But after that, it was Shreyas Iyer (87) and Rishabh Pant (94), who stitched 159 runs partnership to take India to post 300 runs and bag a lead of over 50 runs. They then bowled extremely well as every bowler contributed and helped their side to rattle the opposition on 231, setting themselves a target of 145 runs.
Chasing the target, India had a horrendous start as KL Rahul (2), Shubman Gill (7), Cheteshwar Pujara (6) and Virat Kohli (1) were back in the hut for just 37 runs on a pitch, which saw spinner dominating the game. Axar Patel was promoted up the order and he batted staggering well and scored 34 runs. But he along with Rishabh Pant (9) and Jaydev Unadkat (16) too perished which saw India tumbling at 74/7.
But Shreyas Iyer (29) along with R Ashwin (42) held their nerves well and showed great grit to bat extremely well. They stitched a crucial unbeaten 71 runs partnership and took their side home with 3 wickets in hand. Ashwin finished the game in the 47th over as he took Mehidy Hasan for 16 runs in the over and made sure that they end the series on high.
