2 players you might not know played in David Warner’s debut Test match in 2011

When he started out, not many expected David Warner to do well in Tests. In the shorter formats, he had already established himself and since he had a few technical issues, people doubted him in the longer version. However, Warner overcame those doubts to become one of the best Test openers of this generation. Recently, he scored a double century on his 100th Test. It was in 2011 that Warner made his Test debut. It was against New Zealand in Brisbane. Here, we take a look at two players you might not know played in David Warner’s debut Test match in 2011.

1) Brad Haddin

Brad Haddin was Adam Gilchrist’s back up for a long time in the Australian setup. However, after Gilly’s retirement, Brad Haddin became the No.1 choice behind the stumps for quite some time.

It was in one of these games that Warner made his Test debut. Haddin, though, has retired from the game and is currently involved in various coaching assignments across the globe. Hadding scored an 80 in that game and helped Australia to win the encounter.

2) James Pattinson

James Pattinson is one of the players you might not know who played in David Warner’s debut Test match in 2011. Along with David Warner, James Pattinson also made his debut in this encounter.

After the popular pacers of Australia retired, the country had a lot of hope for James Pattinson. He had shown promise in the domestic circuit and also for Australia he started out well. However, injuries did not help him progress in his career. He did make a comeback and even played in the IPL. Pattinson did come close to the Australian Team but injuries came about again. He retired from international cricket a few years ago and is now playing mostly in England in the domestic competitions.
