Usman Khawaja lashed out at Australian legends amid bad light controversy in the third Test against South Africa. He gave a befitting reply to the former cricketers who questioned why there wasn’t more play on the opening day of the third Test at the SCG.
Australian legends questions play halt on Day 1 at SCG due to bad light
The third Test between Australia and South Africa has been marred by bad weather conditions. Rain has played a fair part and bad light too has halted the game over the course of three days.
The Day 1 of the game saw only 47 overs being bowled due to rain and bad light. However, once the rain stopped there wasn’t enough light to continue the play. After all the obstacles, when play finally resumed late in the day there were only four overs bowled before play was again halted.
The rain might have delayed the start of play at the SCG, but it certainly hasn't dampened the spirits of fans decked in pink to celebrate the 15th annual Jane McGrath Day 💖

Following this, Former Australia captain Steve Waugh along with his brother Mark and Allan Border criticised play getting halted due to bad light and questioned why there wasn’t more play on the opening day of the third Test at the SCG. They were of the opinion that play should have been continued.
Usman Khawaja hits out at Australian legends amid bad light controversy in the third Test against South Africa
Following the criticism, Usman Khawaja has hit out at Australian legends. He said that might even for spinners it was tough as the light was not great. Speaking to ABC, he said:
“When the light deteriorates that much, with the red ball, you just can’t see the seam. Even with the spinners, it was tough. I couldn’t see the seam out of the hand just before we went off and then we came back on and with the pace bowlers, with it being dark, it gets to the point where it’s dangerous.”
Talking about the match, Australia has dominated the game so far. Centuries from Khawaja and Steve Smith have put them in a comfortable position.
