5 Players With Most 400+ Runs In A Single IPL Season

It is very unusual to find players with unreal consistency in the Indian Premier League. A season happens every year, and within 365 days, the entire mindset of a player could have changed. In line with this, we have come across several instances wherein a player was brilliant in one edition and was off the frame in future editions.

That said, IPL is lucky to have a few batsmen who have been remarkably consistent in the tournament. If a player scores more than 400 runs in a single season, it could be stated that he has had a good campaign. This number is usually used to gauge a batsman’s performance. In this article, we talk about five players with the most 400+ runs in a single IPL season.

5. Shikhar Dhawan – 7 Times

Seasons – IPL 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020.

Although he started late to arrive at the scene, Shikhar Dhawan has quickly been accumulating the numbers in IPL. With yet another 400+ season in IPL 2020, ‘Gabbar’ now has five consecutive seasons with more than four hundred runs. This makes him a real asset for teams to have.

Most of Dhawan’s achievements have been with the Hyderabad unit. Nevertheless, he has been doing well for his home team as well. At IPL 2021, in the possible absence of Shreyas Iyer, the opener will have a greater responsibility.

4. David Warner – 7 Times

Seasons – IPL 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020.

If not for the 2018 season where he was away from the game, Warner could have had eight consecutive 400+ seasons now. However, because of that edition, which he missed, the Aussie opener has achieved this feat on seven occasions.

Warner has been one cricketer who is extremely consistent in IPL. His team struggles in the middle-order, and despite that, he plays fearlessly and reaps prizes for the same. For him, 400 seems to be a small number. When he scores, he gets big scores, and he sometimes crosses the mark halfway through the competition.

3. Rohit Sharma – 7 Times

Seasons – IPL 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2019.

Rohit Sharma is an ‘impact’ cricketer, and not many read into his stats. However, the former Deccan Chargers batsman is yet another player with seven 400+ scores to his name.

He is an ambassador of fearless cricket, and it is through this strategy that Rohit has made most of his runs. However, in recent times, owing to the aggressive nature of the other batsmen in his team, the Mumbaikar has been practising the ‘anchor’ role.

2. Virat Kohli – 7 Times

Seasons – IPL 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020.

With 5878 runs from 192 matches, Virat Kohli is IPL’s highest run-getter at the moment. Hence, it is natural that he has plenty of 400+ seasons in his bank. Although he has been consistent, apart from the blip in 2017, the RCB skipper has a neat record.

He has already announced that he will be opening the batting for his team in IPL 2021. Hence, it will be yet another chance for the Indian captain to complete a 400+ season.

1. Suresh Raina – 9 Times

Seasons – IPL 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018.

It is to be noted here that Suresh Raina was not part of IPL 2020, and yet, the CSK man has nine 400+ scores to his name and tops this list of players with the most 400+ runs in a season. It is not simply that the title ‘Mr. IPL’ has been given to him.

Forever the man at No.3 for CSK, Raina has been consistently scoring big runs in IPL. Almost every edition, he has had an impact so far. The expectation will be to improve on his numbers at IPL 2021, too.
