Chennai Super Kings opted to go in for the core of their previous seasons at IPL 2022 Mega-Auctions. However, that move has proved to become a wrong one so far in IPL 2022. The team is struggling to stitch victories and the performances have also been inconsistent. CSK will need a good upcoming auction to get back on track. Although they have not used the trade window much in the past, it is something they can think about before IPL 2023. In this article, we take a look at three players CSK should target to trade before IPL 2023 Auctions
1) KS Bharat (Delhi Capitals)
Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu might not play at their best potential a few years down the line. MS Dhoni will have to inevitably hang up his boots at some time. Therefore, CSK will have a few gaps to fill in the next few seasons.
KS Bharat has done well in IPL before and deserves more opportunities. He has shown that he can do well in the middle phase of a T20 game. Moreover, he is one of the best wicket-keepers in India. Therefore, CSK should try to target the cricketer.
2) Kartik Tyagi (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Kartik Tyagi is one of the players CSK should target to trade before IPL 2023 Auctions. The youngster is one of the most exciting talents in the Indian domestic circuit. However, with SRH having a strong core of Indian pacers, Tyagi might not get too many opportunities.
On the other hand, barring Deepak Chahar, CSK does not have a reliable Indian pacer. Hence, they could try to target Kartik, who himself could favour the move. CSK can then utilize their foreign quota to improve other aspects of the squad.
3) Chetan Sakariya (Delhi Capitals)
Although he played all 14 games in IPL 2021, the Saurashtra cricketer has not got a lot of games in IPL 2022. It is mainly because of the form of K Khaleel Ahmed, who also is a left-arm pacer.
CSK has been using Mukesh Choudhary as the left-arm pace option this season. He has done well but he operates at his best only in the power play. If CSK needs someone who can bowl at all phases, they can try to hire Chetan Sakariya. On the Chennai pitch, the pacer could be an apt fit with his variations. Hence, CSK should target the player.
