“MS Dhoni is a very fair person, doesn’t want CSK to lose a lot of money on his retention,” says N Srinivasan

N Srinivasan opens up about his strong bond with the highly successful CSK skipper

The CSK owner N Srinivasan has said that the reason why MS Dhoni is not sure about his retention yet is that he wants the retention policy to come out first. He is a very fair person, and he doesn’t want CSK to lose a lot of money while retaining him before understanding what the actual retention policy for the next season is. However, Srinivasan also insisted if it’s left to him, he would want Dhoni to captain CSK next year.

There is going to be a mega IPL auction before the next IPL season and the franchises will be allowed to retain only a certain number of players. MS Dhoni, at this stage of his career, is not sure if he should be one of the first-choice players for CSK to be retained, even though he has only just captained CSK to their 4th IPL title.

N Srinivasan talked exclusively to the news app editorji recently, where he opened up very candidly about his relationship with Dhoni. The India Cements MD, who owns CSK, said his relationship with Dhoni has flourished over the years because he doesn’t interfere in the cricketing decisions of CSK at all.

MS Dhoni gives me a lot of respect: Srinivasan

According to Srinivasan, Dhoni gives him a lot of respect and he gives Dhoni a lot of space to take all decisions he wants as far as the cricketing matters of CSK are concerned.

Srinivasan also said it’s not that he and Dhoni talk to each other all the time because their business paths are different, but even if he talks to Dhoni after months, it seems as if they have been talking regularly all this while. That’s the kind of relationship he has had with the CSK skipper over the years.

Srinivasan also picked his favorite CSK title out of all 4 they have won so far. He said he was a bit emotional when CSK won the IPL straightaway after their return from the ban in 2018 and not only he, “captain cool” himself was emotional as well. So, that title is very, very special to him.

Here are the interesting bits from Srinivasan’s interview with editorji –

Abhishek

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
