2 Highest paid overseas players in Big Bash League 2022/23

It is no secret that the cash-rich Indian Premier League is the most-watched T20 tournament in the world. On the other hand, Australia’s premier T20 competition, Big Bash League is the second-watched T20 tourney.

The Big Bash League has successfully completed as many as eleven editions since the inception of the tournament. The 12th edition of the BBL kick-started on December 13 and it will end on February 6.

The T20 competition has seen as many as 26 games so far, with Perth Scorchers dominating the ongoing edition. They have played six games so far wherein they won five games and lost just once.

Perth Scorchers collected as many as 10 points so far whereas Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers are placed second and third on the table with eight points apiece but are placed based on the net run rate.

The Big Bash League Players’ Salary for the 2022 season was released by Cricket Australia ahead of the start of this edition. Now, in this article, let’s take a look at the highest-paid overseas players in BBL 2022/23.

1. Joe Root

England international Joe Root who is pretty much focusing on Test cricket of late is the highest-paid overseas player in the ongoing Big Bash League 2022/23. Joe Root has a staggering salary of $200,000.

England’s greatest batsman plies his trade for Sydney Thunder in the BBL. Having played seven games in Australia’s premier T20 competition, Joe Root has scored 93 runs at a strike rate of 114.81.

2. Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan is one of the most sought-after players in the shortest format of the game. The Afghanistan international is one of the busiest cricketers in the world as he is involved in several T20 leagues.

Rashid Khan who plays for Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League has a salary of $198,800. He has played as many as 68 games in the BBL wherein he has bagged 98 wickets to his name at a superb economy of 6.45.
